NIGHT TRAIL RUN

Presented by TOUT.TRAIL

The night trail run of the XTERRA Quebec Festival will give you part of the experience of ultra-trail races and backyard-type events in a more accessible format. An excellent way to prepare for the big trail events of late summer and fall, to learn about ultra-trail events or simply to live the experience of night trail running without having to do it in the extreme.

The lively night course consists of a 10 km loop, with a passage through the village halfway (at km 5). The 4 formats consist of 1, 2, 3 or 4 10 km loops. So you choose between a 10, 20, 30 or 40 km night challenge on the Empire 47 trails. Part of the route will be illuminated, but as soon as you step into the forest, your headlamp will guide you on the course.

DISTANCES

    10 km: 1 loop

    20 km: 2 loops

    30 km: 3 loops

    40 km: 4 loops

    Each 10 km loop

      • Illuminated section around the reception area of Empire 47
      • L’ Arène trail counterclockwise
      • Crossing the bike trails (end of the Huron and Family)
      • Aid station at km 5 (back to Empire 47 reception)

      • Aid station at km 10 (back to Empire 47 reception)

    NIGHT SWIMRUN

You asked for it, the swimrun is back. This time in an unprecedented formula. How do you feel about swimming in Lac Delage at night with a convoy of lighted boats and running the Empire 47 trails with a headlamp under a starry night?

    Here is what we offer:

4 swimrun formats which consist of 1, 2, 3 or 4 400m swimming loops + 5 km trail running, at night. For swimming, the loop will be lit by a line of illuminated boats for the occasion. For safety reasons, it will be mandatory to swim 2 by 2 at all times (except for the shorter event), to carry a personal buoy and we also provide glow sticks for each participant. Imagine the sight!!! For running, part of the course will be illuminated, but as soon as you step deeper into the forest, your headlamp will guide you through the 5 km course.

Unlike the classic swimrun events where you have to carry all the racing and swimming equipment throughout the trip, your swimrun event at the XTERRA Quebec Festival will include a transition zone where it will be possible to change and change equipment.

        • In the transition from swimming to running, it will be possible to retrieve your headlamp, put on your shoes and change for the race.
        • In the transition from running to swimming, it will be possible to put down your lamp, take off your shoes, retrieve your buoy and light sticks and change for swimming.

All types of wetsuits are allowed. In return, flotation and propulsion equipment (fins, paddles, pull-buoys) is prohibited.

You can participate in the swimrun in 3 ways:

        • Solo (only for the shorter event).
        • In pairs (2 teammates follow each other throughout the trip, both swimming and running).
        • As a team (2 teammates take turns for the race and it is always compulsory to do the swimming portions in teams of 2). The following two strategies are allowed for team participation:
          • The 2 teammates swim together and 1 does all the racing events.
          • The 2 teammates swim together and share the racing events.
        • Relay: Objective to do as many loops as possible of 400m swimming and 5km trail running in 4 hours. The team of 2 to 6 teammates takes turns. 2 swimmers must follow each other on the swim + minimum 1 runner of your choice at each loop.
